In 2010, the Finnish Navy launched the ambitious Squadron 2020 programme. The goal was to renew the fleet used for surveillance and defence of Finland’s maritime borders. Seven aging vessels would eventually be replaced by four highly capable, multirole corvettes.Today, the Pohjanmaa-class corvettes under construction stand as the result of more than a decade of engineering, research, and collaboration.
